Synopsis: Everyone belongs somewhere. Even the misfits.

With the looming threat from the Mancuso Crime Family, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is preparing for a war that could destroy them. Grady, the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms, knows that love makes you weak, and he has zero interest in adding to his liabilities-- especially now. He's already got his teenage daughter who keeps him on his toes and a beef within the club that could fracture his relationship with a fellow brother for good.

For Holly Mercer, her life is finally getting on track and the last thing she wants is trouble from her hometown’s resident outlaws. Keeping her nose clean is easier said than done, when suddenly she finds herself embroiled in club business. Holly might like the idea of being with a real-life bad boy, but even being in the same room with tough-as-nails Grady flusters her.

Review: 5 Stars - Rev, the third title in the Bayonet Scars series from author JC Emery is the continuing story of the members from the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. Trouble continues to reach far and wide for all in the MC and those who find themselves close to the club. JC took things up a notch in what has become my favorite title in this ever growing series.

For me, these titles have been very entertaining because of the stress and crazy characters JC has written. With each book I’ve liked it better than the last and I’m not sure how she’s going to outdo herself with future titles. However I know she will, I have faith because with the story that’s laid out for us and the quality characters in this installment, there is no going anywhere but up!

Grady was more than an ass. It’s who he is and he has good reason to be. He’s dealing with so much after the end of Thrash and even with the events that started this snowball effect that happened in Ride… it’s just hard for me to see him as being anything other than being the cranky pain in the arse he is. Yet, he’s become my favorite because under all that gruffness he portrays to everyone there’s so much more to him. From the beginning to the end you can see Grady evolve. Even in the smallest increments he changes and its then readers find out just how strong he really is.

This time around there’s another threat other than the Mancuso Crime Family so readers get double the pleasure and double the stress with the turn of each page. It’s something you can always count on when it comes to JC’s writing – the vast array of emotional feelings.

Another thing that I’ve noticed is that the writing is becoming so much tighter. You can tell just how much JC knows her characters and how much they are in control of the story. I was lucky enough to do somewhat of a beta read for this title and by the time I received it there wasn’t much she needed to change or work on. The plot was so tight and on coarse that what readers received in the finish product was pretty much exactly what I read as well.

One thing that I’d like to mention is that in this title is there a rape scene that I was warned about before reading. I wasn’t told anything other than there was something I’d be reading that might bother me. Something like this I usually can’t read because it does bother me. It’s not something that’ll ever change, it’s just who I am and while it was hard to read it wasn’t as graphic as it could have been and it didn’t last pages and pages to be drawn out. I guess I’m mentioning this because I can only assume how hard it was for JC to write and also how hard it was to include such a controversial scene into one of her stories yet how she did it was, in my opinion one of the best ways to actually include something such as this. I was indeed affected by it, but I had prepared myself for something much, much worse and I was glad at how it was handled.

I believe this scene is also an idea of more to come for certain characters, so sometimes the harder parts to writing are needed for the greater outcome.

In the end I LOVED IT! JC has written something pretty amazing here and with her characters and story getting stronger with each book, I can’t help but be proud of all she’s accomplished thus far and what she’s going to accomplish on into the future.

This is an author that should be on more readers’ radars and not one to pass by. I HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone who loves a gritty story, with amazing writing and characters that only get better with each installment. Fans of MC’s, alpha males and action packed stories shouldn’t miss this series! 18 and old readers are suggested for content. So, what the heck are you waiting for??? As of this moment, Ryan, Duke and Grady are waiting for you to meet them. Enjoy!

About the Author:

As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor's degree in English. JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. These days she rocks her flip flops year round in Northern California and can't imagine a climate more beautiful.

JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries, yet she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.
